The Sunflowers - Mary Oliver

Today I am working with a program that seeks to provide many women with breast and cervical cancer screening in one day. Word is that we have over 200 confirmed women, and only four confirmed providers, and only four hours of clinic time scheduled. It will be a busy day. With beautiful opportunities such as this, each woman still needs individual attention, her individual moment, her time. Last night while out with some wonderful friends, Mary Oliver's "New and Selected Poems, Volume One" was on my stack of purchases. And this morning, reading her poem, The Sunflowers, I am reminded of the beauty, the importance, and the singularity of each individual, and how brightly they shine when acknowledged and loved.
