Celebrating 2 Years of Feminist Midwife

FM 2 YearToday marks two years of writing Feminist Midwife. Woohoo! For me, this blog has become an incredible place of release, of processing, of community, and of support during this time. Thank you to everyone who reads, participates, gives feedback, leaves comments, and shares with friends.I feel like two years of writing is also reflective of two years of practice. I am proud of the range of the most popular posts over the past year:1. The retroverted and retroflexed uterus: from front to back (well, mostly, back)2. Midwife to Resident: 20 Things I Want to Talk With You About, And Often Do3. True Midwifery Care4. Sh* collaborating MDs say5. Room seven delivered, no complications6. Garnering trust7. The Collective Someone8. Blurred Lines: Clarifying consent, cultural appropriation, sexism and racism9. Anger; Understanding.10. 31 Days Into the Affordable Care Act - A Midwife's PerspectiveOverwhelmingly, since starting the blog, two of the most popular posts are14 things you never knew about the hymenal ringUnpacking the invisible knapsack of pregnancy privilege. In honor of this two year anniversary, Facebook and Twitter users who share their favorite FM post will be entered to win one of five bags that I am giving away! By Saturday night at midnight CST, share on new media and tag Feminist Midwife so that I can see your share, and you're entered to win! I'll announce winners on Sunday.I have many fun projects coming up! I will be putting together a vlog (video blog) for knot-tying for midwives, I will fill out the Feminist Worker profile myself to reintroduce myself to readers, and I have plans for posts on being a "Feminist Provider" and being a "Feminist Patient." Requests welcomed!First and foremost, next week I go on vacation. I'll have a monthly chai date for you before I go, but then it's off to nothing but relaxation and recentering. I hope you find time to do the same!Again, thank you all. The past two years have been ones of incredible growth, humility, networking, and sanity. This blog is not only work but also self care; not only processing but also release; not only sharing but also love. I look forward to many more years of all of those things.20131007 Quote #5 (1)
