Birth GG
My midwife heart grew three sizes the day she walked onto the labor floor. I cared for her during her last pregnancy when I was a student, and was being given another opportunity to be there for her during this labor and birth as her midwife. She remembered me, and seemed equally excited to be spending this time with each other.A history of fast births once the water breaks, and her need for a female provider, on top of our prior work together, guaranteed I wasn't going anywhere until she completed her work for this next baby. Her labor moved quickly and just how she desired, with the people and resources around her at the ready for each step.True to prediction, once her water broke there were only moments before the baby arrived, covered in blessings and prayers by her surrounding family. A beautiful, easy birth, showered in the light of a beautiful and powerful mother and her vibrant new child. For the first time in a while, I was brought to tears, overcome by the emotional recognition of life coming full circle, the power of women achieving their exact intentions, and the work of love that a roomful of women brought forward that night.Birth.
