With her partner watching Gangland in the background, the room seemed incredibly loud. Her furrowed brow and pursed lips were the only indicator of the hard work she was doing, quietly in the background. She remained silent throughout, her long braid swinging back and forth like a metronome of contraction frequency, length and intensity."No puedo," she whispered, a familiar refrain, as she transitioned. The baby's head descended rapidly, but the shoulders took some work by her and me, with a baby much larger than her others, and a neck and body cord providing an extra step of the puzzle. Once unwrapped, she reached for her baby, exhausted, and asked the nurse to help her, but not before checking every part to make sure everything came out alright.Birth.Per suggestion, I’ve starting tagging the birth stories with letters to make them more identifiable and searchable.
