Monthly chai date

If we were having chai together, I would ask how you are feeling, already being in the second month of this new year. Did you have resolutions, and are you finding support in sticking to them? Are you finding center personally, staying in touch with family and friends, and reconnecting with new ones? This is never an easy process, I am finding, in a new city and in a new job, but one that can be accomplished with patience and love, from yourself and those in your life. I hope you find this in your own surroundings.If we were having chai together, I would push the bright cover of "Baby Catcher" over to you and positively require that you read it. Thanks to long commutes on public transportation, I quickly completed Peggy Vincent's memoir. What an incredible work of strength, and a historical outline of important shifts in midwifery, namely home birth, in the United States. I will admit that my heart was broken, after my own difficult week, as she discussed the changes to her practice. She went from having lots of time with patients and knowing them personally, to feeling as though she was in an assembly line, quickly caring for women and doing what she can when she can: a different way of being a midwife, a different way of being "with woman."  All midwives are fighting the good fight, in one way or another, and we should remember that by continuing to only believe in each other in that work.If we were having chai together, I would tell you that I could not do this without my best friend and partner. Period. This week I have an appointment for a physical, a chiropractor, finished an eye exam and ordered new contacts, and have an appointment for the dentist later this month.
